Suffolk County Petition:
We, the People undersigned residents of Suffolk County, believe that the most important role of government is to defend and uphold the Constitution of the United States and the liberties and security it guarantees. We find sections of the USA PATRIOT Act to be in violation of the First, Fourth and Eighth Amendments to the Constitution. It restricts freedom of speech, press, assembly, the rights of persons to be secure in their homes, the right of persons to have a speedy and public trail, the right to a lawyer and the prohibition against cruel and unusual punishment. We call upon our local representatives to stand up for constitutional rights and civil liberties in future legislation and revisions to the USA PATRIOT Act.

Huntington Township Petition:
We, the undersigned residents of Huntington Township believe that the most important role of government is to defend and uphold the Constitution of the United States and the liberties that it guarantees. We find the USA Patriot Act to be in direct violation of the First, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Eighth and Fourteenth Amendments to the Constitution. It restricts freedom of speech, press, assembly, the right of persons to be secure in their homes, the right of persons to have a speedy and public trial, the right to a lawyer and the prohibition against cruel and unusual punishment. We call upon our local representatives to stand up for constitutional rights and civil liberties by declaring opposition to the USA Patriot Act and urging its repeal.
